From the ground up, the LES Fat is built to Pivot’s high standards. The full carbon frame is fabricated using Pivot’s proprietary hollow-core, internal-molding. The process eliminates excess material, leading to a lightweight frameset tuned to be vertically compliant without sacrificing lateral stiffness and power transfer. That’s all to be expected with any high-end carbon frame these days, but for Pivot it’s not just jargon. What stands out most on the LES Fat frameset is the finer details. Most notably, Pivot’s Swinger II dropout system, which makes the frame adaptable to nearly any plus or fat-bike wheel and tire combination. Season to season, snow or dirt, the LES Fat can run 26-inch (up to 5-inches wide) or 27.5-inch (up to 4.5-inches wide) fat bike tires, and 27.5-inch plus, 29-inch plus, or standard 29-inch wheels. Switching between singlespeed or geared 1x or 2x drivetrains is also an simple conversion. The unique design of the Swinger II dropout simultaneously adjusts the chainstay length and bottom bracket height as you change wheel size, so the geometry stays true (dropping the bottom bracket for larger wheels) for whichever wheel size you may choose.

Other frame details include a 132 mm Press Fit BB and 197 mm rear hub spacing, leading to ample tire clearance, but with a minimum Q-factor of 210 mm (similar to the Q-factor on bikes designed for the narrower 170 mm rear hub spacing). Three water bottle cages and rear rack braze-ons mean the LES Fat is ready for longer adventures.
